2024 marks the final year for Ford’s pre-facelift Maverick, a unibody truck closely related to the Bronco Sport and Escape crossovers. A recent recall has affected a limited number of 2024 Maverick trucks produced in Hermosillo, Mexico, due to an incomplete thread engagement issue with the second-row child seat tether anchors.

This problem, caused by an unauthorized rework at a Flex-N-Gate facility, was discovered by Ford on September 10, 2024. Fortunately, no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of this issue. To rectify the problem, dealers will repair affected vehicles using a heli-coil process to ensure proper thread engagement. Ford will notify owners by first-class mail by December 2, 2024.

The recall affects a specific production date, August 28, 2024, and does not specify particular powertrains, grades, or options. The 2024 Maverick continues to be available for configuration on Ford’s website, offering both a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine and a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain.

All-wheel drive is available with the gasoline engine, either in standard or twin-clutch form for the Tremor off-road package. The 2025 Ford Ranger is a significant upgrade over its predecessor. The most notable change is the introduction of all-wheel drive for the hybrid model, offering enhanced traction and capability.

Additionally, the Tremor package has evolved into a standalone trim level, focusing on off-road performance. For those seeking a street-oriented truck, the new Lobo grade, equipped with a twin-clutch rear drive unit and lowered suspension, provides a thrilling driving experience.

The mid-cycle refresh brings a revised exterior design and an upgraded interior. The 8-inch infotainment screen has been replaced with a larger 13.2-inch unit, and the SYNC 4 system is now standard across all trims. However, the increased features and capabilities come at a cost, as all 2025 Ranger models are priced higher than their 2024 counterparts.

The base XL starts at $26,395, while the XLT and Lariat are priced at $28,895 and $36,835, respectively. The Tremor trim, available in both off-road and street-tuned configurations, starts at $39,895 and $40,595, respectively.
