After revealing their TRD Surf Concept, Toyota is back with another exciting creation for the 2024 SEMA show. Enter the Land Cruiser ROX Concept—an enhanced, off-road-ready version of Toyota’s legendary adventure vehicle. This unique concept, designed by Toyota’s Calty Design Research team in Michigan, is based on the new 2024 Land Cruiser 250. Dubbed “ROX,” which stands for “Recreation Open Experience,” this model is all about rugged fun and off-road capability.

The ROX Concept has undergone significant modifications, with over half of its parts and body panels replaced to raise it beyond the standard Land Cruiser’s capabilities. It showcases an open-top design and custom “skeleton” doors, which feature cut-away upper and lower sections set on rocker panels and rails. The vehicle is further customized with new steel bumpers and extended fenders that house custom 18-inch billet wheels with large, robust off-road tires, setting it up for any terrain.

Inside, Toyota has outfitted the ROX with innovative and durable materials. SLS Nylon 3D printed parts are featured in areas like the door sills, while the interior highlights a weatherproof design and bold Heritage Orange leather seats. Additionally, the ROX Concept includes a functional midgate, giving easy access to a rear bed area with integrated seating. For added utility, it boasts a triple-bar roof rack and a sports bar equipped with molle panels, plus a jerry can mounted at the rear for extended adventures.

Mechanically, the ROX Concept features a custom TRD suspension system with a 4-inch lift over the standard Land Cruiser’s ride height. New forged aluminum control arms at the front and rear extend its track width by 8 inches, giving it a bolder stance and enhanced off-road performance. Powering this concept is Toyota’s reliable 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid inline-four engine, delivering 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels—plenty for tackling rugged landscapes.

Toyota fans and off-road enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of the Land Cruiser ROX Concept at SEMA 2024 in Las Vegas from November 5-8.
