Rimac Automobili, the Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer, has issued a safety recall for nine of its 2023 and 2024 Nevera models in the United States. The recall, stemming from a potential issue with the C19 low-voltage cable, could lead to a short circuit and increased fire risk. The faulty cable, which may not have been adequately secured during production, could potentially become damaged under normal driving conditions.

Rimac initiated an investigation into this matter earlier this month, concluding their findings on October 10th and notifying the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on October 18th. Affected owners are scheduled to receive notification via first-class mail between November 18th and December 18th, 2024.

However, given Rimac’s direct approach with customers, it’s likely that owners will be contacted by phone prior to receiving the mailed notification. The company strongly advises owners to refrain from driving their vehicles until the issue is resolved by an authorized service partner.

The recalled vehicles were manufactured between April 25, 2023, and July 26, 2024, and their VINs begin with the letter “V3.” It’s worth noting that Croatian-built vehicles have VINs ranging from V3 to V5, while Estonian-built models use V6 to V8.

Founded by Mate Rimac in 2009, Rimac has made significant strides in the automotive industry. In 2021, they partnered with Bugatti to form Bugatti Rimac, a joint venture spearheaded by Porsche. This collaboration has led to innovative developments, such as the hybridized Porsche 911 Carrera GTS and 911 Carrera 4 GTS.

These models feature a new turbocharged boxer engine paired with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission, delivering an additional 28 horsepower and 111 pound-feet of torque. The Rimac Nevera R, a limited-edition hypercar, is a testament to all-electric performance.

With a mind-boggling 1,989 horsepower and 1,741 pound-feet of torque, it delivers unparalleled acceleration and top speed. The 0-60 mph sprint is dispatched in a mere 1.74 seconds, while the quarter-mile is covered in 8.23 seconds. The top speed is an astonishing 256 mph.

The Nevera R’s exclusive features, including the R-AWTV all-wheel torque vectoring system and Michelin Cup 2 tires, enhance its handling and grip. Only 40 of these radical machines will be produced, making it one of the most exclusive and powerful electric hypercars.
