Kia has officially its first-ever pickup truck, the 2026 Tasman, aiming to make a mark in the global truck market, although it won’t be available in the U.S. Following the success of its SUVs, Kia designed the Tasman to appeal to adventure seekers with a robust and distinctive look.
The truck features a bold design with sharp lines and angles, reminiscent of the Jeep Gladiator, designed for and those who enjoy outdoor activities.
The Tasman measures 213 inches in length and has a 128.7-inch wheelbase, making it a midsize pickup. It boasts impressive cargo capabilities with a rear bed that can hold up to 1,173 liters. The truck offers different trims, including RWD and two AWD versions: X-Line and X-Pro, catering to both off-road enthusiasts and those looking for a more highway-friendly option.
Under the hood, the Tasman comes with a powerful 2.5-liter inline-4 engine producing 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
A 2.2-liter diesel option is available in Australia, delivering 210 horsepower. This setup enables the Tasman to compete well with other midsize pickups like the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger.
Inside, the Tasman features a spacious cabin adorned with honeycomb mesh, housing a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. With an emphasis on comfort, it offers generous headroom and legroom for all passengers.
Pricing details for the Tasman are still under wraps, but estimates suggest it could start around $40,000 in Australia.
While Kia has not confirmed plans for a U.S. launch, the Tasman certainly positions itself as a competitive option in the global pickup market.
