Sebastien Bourdais will join Tower Motorsports for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving alongside 2022 LMP2 champion John Farano in the No. 8 ORECA for the full season. Bourdais, a four-time Champ Car champion, brings a wealth of experience to the team after his time at Chip Ganassi Racing, where he enjoyed success, including a victory at Motul Petit Le Mans in his final race with the team. With Chip Ganassi Racing stepping away from the series, Bourdais found an opportunity with Tower Motorsports, a team known for its strong performances in endurance racing.

The addition of Bourdais to the team adds significant depth to an already competitive lineup. Farano, who also leads the team, expressed confidence in their driver roster, highlighting the skill and determination of Bourdais, as well as endurance specialists Sebastian Alvarez and Job van Uitert. Farano’s goal is for the team to be competitive at every race and to fight for the Jim Trueman Award, which recognizes the top-performing LMP2 team in the IMSA championship. Farano is optimistic that the team can continue their success from past seasons and challenge for top honors in 2025.

Bourdais expressed enthusiasm about joining Tower Motorsports, praising the team’s proven success and expressing his excitement to experience the LMP2 car with Michelin tires and higher downforce, which is a new challenge for him. The seasoned driver is eager to contribute to the team’s success while working with Farano, Alvarez, and van Uitert, believing they can achieve great results together. His extensive experience in endurance racing, which includes victories in major events, makes him a key asset to the team’s efforts in the upcoming season.

Alvarez, who has a strong background in LMP2 racing, will compete with Tower Motorsports in the Michelin Endurance Cup events. He brings experience from both the European Le Mans Series and IMSA, having raced at the 2024 Rolex 24 and Petit Le Mans. Alvarez expressed excitement about returning to the team after a successful stint at Petit Le Mans, where he gained valuable experience working with Tower. He is eager to work with Bourdais and Farano, believing the driver lineup will be competitive and capable of challenging for victories in the Endurance Cup races.

Job van Uitert, who has also driven with Tower Motorsports in the past, adds further strength to the team. The Dutch driver’s experience includes a win with Tower at the 2020 Motul Petit Le Mans, and he has shown consistent form in the European Le Mans Series. With such a talented and experienced group of drivers, Tower Motorsports aims to continue its legacy of success in the LMP2 class. Under the guidance of team manager Rick Capone, the team is focused on securing both the championship and an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while continuing to build on their strong results in previous seasons.
