A Barbie-themed sports car is set to be showcased at the Classic Car Show in Birmingham.

This unique 1967 Aston Martin DB6 was meticulously repaired and given a vibrant pink finish in a workshop in Berwick, East Sussex, after it sustained damage in a rally in Mexico two years ago.

The car had overturned during the La Carrera Panamericana event, leaving it heavily damaged and “unrecognisable.”

David Pearce-Martin and his team dedicated several months to restoring the vehicle, working to bring it “to its former glory.”

He noted that when his client was considering colors for the car, he “jokingly suggested pink as something that stands out.”

Mr. Pearce-Martin said, “Initially I thought ‘what have we done?'” However, he admitted that he now thinks “it works quite well.”

“It’s looking fantastic for the show. It is going to be a bright stand with a variety of colors,” he added.

The car is owned by Apparently Racing, a Sussex-based racing team, which plans to compete with it again in Mexico in 2025.

A green 1967 Aston Martin DB6 had overturned and suffered extensive damage following a rally in Mexico in 2022.

Mr. Pearce-Martin, who has been running his own classic car restoration business, DPM Autobody, for the past decade, shared that he feels he is “living childhood dreams in adulthood.”

He noted that he and his team are all self-taught and that many of the classic cars they work on are “museum pieces.”

“We carry out the whole restoration process using traditional methods,” he explained.

The Classic Car Show will take place at the NEC in Birmingham from Friday to Sunday.
