As the automotive world gears up for Jaguar’s ambitious reinvention, a striking restomod has surfaced, serving as a poignant reminder of the brand’s illustrious past.

Enter the Supercat, a creation of the British firm TWR, with collaboration from fashion designer and car enthusiast Magnus Walker.

Limited to just 88 units, the Supercat exemplifies what happens when the Jaguar XJS gets an unapologetically extravagant overhaul.

The reimagined body is crafted entirely from carbon fiber, while the heart of the beast is a supercharged 5.6-liter V12 engine delivering a formidable 660 bhp and 730 Nm of torque.

These figures stand in stark contrast to the original XJS, which offered 285 bhp and 431 Nm. Weight has also been reduced, with the Supercat tipping the scales at 3,536 lbs compared to the XJS’s 3,902 lbs.

Additionally, the Supercat’s width has been increased to 77.76 inches from the original 70.59 inches.

As expected from a high-end restomod, the Supercat features upgraded brakes, suspension, a new six-speed manual transmission, and a reimagined interior blending classic and modern elements.

The cabin is adorned with metal and leather, alongside digital screens supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Carbon-backed seats take center stage, while the rear seats have been replaced with a spacious luggage compartment.

The modern iteration of TWR is led by Fergus Walkinshaw, son of Tom Walkinshaw, whose renowned motorsport team, Tom Walkinshaw Racing, achieved Jaguar victories in the European Touring Car Championship, Spa 24 Hours, and Bathurst during the 1980s.

Relaunching TWR with the Supercat, the current team includes engineers with experience at McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Williams, and Renault F1.

The rear-wheel-drive Supercat promises “an authentic, engaging, and entirely analog driving experience,” according to its creators.

TWR emphasizes that “great driving cars are not the product of raw power alone,” highlighting extensive engineering refinements designed to ensure the Supercat excels in both demanding motorsport and real-world settings.

Optional carbon ceramic brakes enhance stopping power, while the vehicle includes a programmable traction control system, launch control, and five driving modes.

Marketed as a Super-GT, the car features double wishbone suspension and active dynamic damping to balance street comfort with track performance.

The underside has been reengineered for aerodynamics, boasting a flattened floor and a redesigned rear splitter to generate downforce. Tailpipes have been repositioned to exit from the sides rather than the rear.

Available in both left- and right-hand-drive configurations, the Supercat is now open for orders. With production capped at 88 units, prices start at £225,000 ($285,000), excluding local taxes.
