Orlando, Florida, is introducing an innovative way to travel downtown—self-driving shuttles. Later this month, an electric, autonomous shuttle will begin transporting passengers around a 1-mile loop in the city’s downtown area at no cost.

The shuttle, which seats eight passengers, is part of a six-month pilot program designed to test autonomous vehicle technology. The data collected during the trial will help Orlando’s transportation planners shape future mobility strategies.

Operated by Beep Inc., a local company, this initiative builds on Beep’s successful operation of similar services in a planned community near Orlando International Airport.
