The 2026 Lexus IS is poised to hit U.S. dealerships with a substantial update, giving one of the brand’s longest-running sedans a refreshed look, upgraded interior, and a simplified powertrain lineup.

Initially revealed in Japan last September, the 2026 IS brings sharper styling, interior improvements, chassis tweaks, and a more focused trim structure.

The most notable change for the U.S. market is the elimination of the entry-level four-cylinder IS 300 and the V6-powered IS 300 AWD.

As a result, the IS 350 becomes the new base model, driving a significant increase in starting price from $41,830 to $46,795, nearly a $5,000 jump.

While equivalent trims see smaller increases, $1,640 for the F Sport Design and $2,015 for the fully equipped F Sport, all prices include a $1,295 destination and handling charge.

Even with this higher baseline, the IS 350 remains competitive. For comparison, the 2026 BMW 330i starts at $47,500 and rises to $49,500 with all-wheel drive.

The Lexus, however, offers a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 producing 314 horsepower, compared with the BMW’s 255-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which gives it a clear performance advantage in terms of engine displacement and output.

The 2026 IS retains its overall shape but receives a more sculpted front bumper, a refined spindle grille, and reshaped air intakes for a sharper and more aggressive look.

The standard 19-inch wheels now feature a new design, while optional red brake calipers and a larger ducktail-style rear spoiler are available.

Inside, the IS sees arguably its biggest transformation. The dashboard, door panels, and center console have been redesigned for a more cohesive, modern appearance.

The touchscreen has grown to 12.3 inches and is paired with physical toggle switches for climate control. Turbine-style vents borrow inspiration from the GR GT supercar, while new Radiant Red interior themes and optional Forged Bamboo trim inserts add variety to the cabin.

Audio options include a standard 10-speaker system, upgradeable to a 17-speaker Mark Levinson setup. The interior also features four USB-C ports and a wireless charging pad. Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which provides updated driver-assist features, is standard across the lineup.

Lexus is offering a limited-run Special Appearance Package for the first 350 U.S. units of the IS 350 F Sport.

This package includes a matte Hakugin White exterior, a contrasting black-and-white interior, black BBS 19-inch forged wheels, triple-beam LED headlights, a moonroof, and bundled upscale features such as the Handling and Technology packages, Mark Levinson audio, power rear sunshades, and custom floor mats.

For 2026, Lexus has simplified the U.S. lineup to a single powertrain. Every IS comes equipped with a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 producing 314 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel-drive models use an eight-speed automatic, while all-wheel-drive variants employ a six-speed automatic.

Both the entry-level IS 300 and the V8-powered IS 500 have been discontinued, and there are no indications of their return. While Japan still offers the IS 300h hybrid with a 2.5-liter engine and 217 combined hp, this variant will not be available in the U.S. market.

The 2026 IS also benefits from chassis updates, including refined steering and suspension settings. Lexus says these changes provide more consistent feedback and a more natural response through corners.

Additionally, the return motion of the steering wheel and pedals has been fine-tuned to enhance everyday driving smoothness and control. Lexus aims to deliver a more intuitive and rewarding driving experience, even as the core hardware remains familiar.

The 2026 Lexus IS is expected to reach U.S. dealerships in early 2026, offering a modernized sedan with sharper styling, improved interior tech, and a streamlined V6 powertrain.
