Bentley has brought the Bentley Continental GT S back to its lineup, but this time without any increase in power over the standard Continental GT. Instead, the focus is firmly on delivering a more engaging and driver-focused experience.

The Continental GT S has been a familiar part of Bentley’s range since the introduction of the Continental GT V8 S back in 2013. That earlier model followed a clear formula, pairing a modest power increase with sharper chassis tuning to create a more dynamic version of the regular GT.

Now, Bentley is introducing a new GT S, available as both the GT S Coupe and the GTC S Convertible. As before, it slots neatly between the regular Continental GT and the flagship Speed model, targeting buyers who want a more athletic and engaging grand tourer without stepping all the way up to the full-bore GT Speed. The positioning remains familiar, even if the execution has shifted slightly this time around.

Unlike previous GT S models, the latest version does not receive any additional power compared with the standard Continental GT. However, that decision is unlikely to disappoint many buyers, given that the regular GT already produces a substantial 671bhp.

Performance figures remain seriously impressive, with a 0–62mph time of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 190mph. In addition, the powertrain retains the ability to run in electric-only mode for up to 50 miles, further underlining that outright power was hardly lacking to begin with.

Rather than chasing higher output figures, Bentley has concentrated on enhancing driver involvement through a series of chassis upgrades inspired by the new Continental GT Speed.

These changes include the fitment of an electronically controlled limited-slip differential at the rear, active anti-roll bars, and all-wheel steering. A sports exhaust system also comes as part of the package, helping to sharpen both the driving experience and the car’s character.

Visually and inside the cabin, the GT S gains a number of upgrades as standard. Bentley includes its Blackline Specification, 22-inch alloy wheels, LED Matrix headlights, and a selection of sportier interior touches. Inside, Dynamica trim inserts and Piano Black veneer reinforce the GT S’s more performance-oriented positioning while maintaining the brand’s expected level of luxury.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but expectations place the new Continental GT S at around £215,000. That would keep it aligned with its role as a more focused, driver-oriented alternative within the Continental GT range, offering sharper dynamics without encroaching too closely on the territory of the flagship Speed.
