As the world’s largest automotive market, China increasingly shapes global industry dynamics as more competitive models emerge from domestic manufacturers.

One of the most striking recent examples is the Xiaomi YU7 GT, which presents an almost unbelievable specification sheet, highlighted by output approaching the 1,000-horsepower mark.

According to CarNewsChina, the YU7 GT, the performance-focused version of the YU7 SUV, uses a dual-motor electric powertrain.

The front-mounted motor produces 288 kW (386 horsepower), while the rear motor contributes 450 kW (603 horsepower), for a combined system output of roughly 990 horsepower.

This configuration is also reported to enable a top speed of up to 300 km/h (186 mph).

From a styling standpoint, the YU7 GT’s proportions and stance have drawn comparisons to the Ferrari Purosangue, while the front-end design has been likened to that of the McLaren 750S.

At the rear, the SUV features a full-width taillight, an increasingly common modern design element paired with GT badging that reinforces its performance-oriented intent.

Regulatory filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicate that the YU7 GT will be offered with a wide range of customization options.

These include multiple body decal treatments and a selection of brake caliper colors, allowing buyers to tailor the vehicle’s appearance to their preferences.

Xiaomi already offers a high-performance electric model in the form of the SU7 Ultra, a sedan rated at an eye-catching 1,527 horsepower.

However, as SUVs continue to dominate demand across global markets, the YU7 GT is likely to be far more consequential for the brand. This is particularly notable given reports that SU7 Ultra sales slowed considerably last year, with only 45 units sold in December 2025.

Industry speculation suggests the YU7 GT could be priced between 450,000 and 500,000 yuan, translating to approximately $65,000 to $72,000 at current exchange rates.

At that level, it would undercut electric SUVs such as the Porsche Macan EV and the standard Tesla Model X, at least on paper, while offering significantly higher quoted performance figures.

Although the YU7 GT is unlikely to reach the U.S. market in the near term, the growing presence of Chinese EVs in export regions such as Europe and Mexico is already compelling legacy automakers to respond.

That competitive pressure could ultimately benefit consumers, pushing manufacturers to deliver electric vehicles with sharper pricing, improved driving range, and stronger performance.
