Hyundai has introduced a series of updates for the 2027 Kona in its home market of South Korea, placing a stronger emphasis on personalization while also adjusting pricing and equipment levels.

Among the most noticeable additions is a new “Black Exterior” package, giving the compact SUV a more subdued and stealth-inspired appearance. Alongside the visual changes, Hyundai is expanding customization options inside the cabin with new digital themes for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.

One of the more unusual features is the inclusion of animated dashboard skins, including designs inspired by Pikachu as well as a tribute to the classic Hyundai Pony. These digital elements highlight the brand’s growing focus on software-driven personalization within its vehicles.

At the same time, Hyundai has lowered the entry price of the Kona in Korea, making it more accessible to buyers. However, this reduction comes with a trade-off, as certain features that were previously standard have now been removed or shifted into optional packages.

The updated lineup also introduces revised trim structures aimed at offering more flexibility. By reorganizing features into selectable options, Hyundai is allowing customers to tailor the vehicle more closely to their preferences rather than paying for bundled equipment they may not need.

The 2027 Kona update focuses less on mechanical changes and more on design tweaks, digital customization, and pricing strategy. The approach reflects a broader industry trend where automakers are increasingly treating vehicles as customizable tech platforms rather than purely hardware-driven products.
