BMW has introduced the updated 2027 BMW 7 Series, bringing a substantial mid-cycle refresh to its flagship sedan. The model reflects the brand’s broader transition toward its Neue Klasse design language and a stronger focus on digital technology and electrification. While the shape remains familiar, the updates touch nearly every aspect of the vehicle.
On the outside, the design has been refined rather than completely changed. The front end now appears flatter and more upright, giving the car a more formal presence.
BMW’s signature kidney grille remains a central element, now featuring illumination for a more modern look. Slimmer headlights and updated body lines contribute to a cleaner, more streamlined appearance. At the rear, revised taillights and subtle changes to the proportions complete the exterior update.
The most significant changes are found inside the cabin. BMW has introduced its new Panoramic iDrive system, which replaces the traditional instrument cluster with a wide display projected along the base of the windshield.
This system works alongside a central touchscreen and an optional passenger display, creating a fully digital environment. Physical buttons have been reduced, with most functions now controlled through the interface or voice commands. The layout is designed to simplify interaction while providing more information in a less intrusive way.
Rear-seat comfort continues to be a key focus for the 7 Series. The model retains features such as Executive Lounge seating, offering extended legroom and advanced adjustment options.

A large rear entertainment display remains available, now with improved resolution and connectivity. Combined with upgraded materials, ambient lighting, and premium audio systems, the cabin maintains its emphasis on luxury and passenger comfort.
Under the hood, BMW offers a range of powertrains to suit different preferences. The standard setup includes an updated inline-six engine producing close to 400 horsepower, delivering a balance of performance and efficiency. Plug-in hybrid versions are also available, combining electric power with combustion engines to provide increased output and reduced emissions.
The fully electric variant, the BMW i7, receives notable improvements as part of this update. Enhancements to battery technology are expected to increase driving range and improve charging speed. Some versions are projected to exceed 350 miles on a full charge, placing the i7 among the more competitive options in the luxury EV segment.
Pricing for the updated 7 Series is expected to start just above $100,000, with higher trims and electric models reaching significantly higher depending on configuration. Production is scheduled to begin in mid-2026, with global deliveries following soon after.
The 2027 BMW 7 Series represents a clear evolution of the brand’s flagship sedan. The exterior updates refine its established design, while the interior introduces a more advanced digital experience. Combined with a broad range of powertrains, including improved electric options, the model reflects BMW’s direction toward a more technology-focused and electrified future.
