Presenting The Audi Q6 E-Tron A Sleek Alternative To Turbocharged Crossovers

If You Can’t Stomach Turbo Badging on an Electric Crossover, the Upcoming Audi Q6 E-Tron May Be More to Your Taste. After Many Delays, the Audi Q6 E-Tron Is Almost Ready to Waltz Down the Catwalk and into Full View, with the Automaker Confirming the Car’s Launch for March 18.

Aside from Announcing the Launch Date on Social Media Overnight and Publishing a Teaser Photo (Top), Audi Hasn’t Provided Any Further Details About Its New Electric Crossover.

It’s Not Clear Quite Why the Brand Felt the Need to Hide the Q6 E-Tron’s Body, as the Design Has Already Been Outed by Barely Disguised Prototypes Audi Has Been Publicising Since Last Year.

Based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) It Co-Developed with Porsche, the Q6 E-Tron Will Be Closely Related to the Recently Revealed Second-Generation Porsche Macan.

Unlike the New Macan, which at present has only been Revamped with a Coupe-Ish Crossover Body, the Q6 E-Tron will be available with the choice of two body styles.

There will be a Conventional Crossover with an Upright Tailgate and a Sportback Variant with a More Steeply Raked Roof and Rear Window. If the thought of turbo badging on an electric crossover doesn’t sit well with you, then the upcoming Audi Q6 e-Tron might be more up your alley.

After facing several delays, Audi’s Q6 e-Tron is finally gearing up to make its debut on March 18. While the automaker has teased the launch date on social media and shared a teaser photo, specific details about the new electric crossover are still under wraps.

It’s somewhat puzzling why Audi chose to keep the Q6 e-Tron’s body hidden, considering that prototypes of the vehicle have been spotted in the wild for quite some time now.

Built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) co-developed with Porsche, the Q6 e-Tron shares many similarities with the recently unveiled second-generation Porsche Macan.

Unlike the new Macan, which has only been showcased with a coupe-like crossover body style so far, the Q6 e-Tron will offer customers the option of two body styles: a traditional crossover with an upright tailgate, and a Sportback variant featuring a more aggressively sloping roofline and rear window.

Although sharing similarities, the Macan and Q6 e-Tron diverge significantly in their interior and exterior designs. The Q6 e-Tron retains Audi’s iconic single-frame grille, albeit now sealed and non-functional.

This grille is flanked by the brand’s pioneering split headlight treatment, featuring sleek LED driving lights below the bonnet line and discreetly integrated main and high beam units.

Flowing creases accentuate the Q6 e-Tron’s side profile, while the rear boasts expansive tail lights with optional OLED lighting elements. Stepping inside, the Q6 e-Tron welcomes occupants with a curved display panel housing an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Additional features include a 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger, equipped with a polariser film for distraction-free movie viewing, alongside a premium 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and an augmented reality head-up display.

While specifics about the Q6 e-Tron’s drivetrain remain undisclosed, insights can be drawn from the second-generation Macan. Both the Macan and Q6 e-Tron leverage an 800-volt electrical architecture, promising enhanced performance.

The Macan 4 employs a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivering 300kW and 650Nm on overboost, achieving a 0-100km/h time of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 220km/h. Meanwhile, the Macan Turbo ups the ante with 470kW and 1130Nm, propelling it from 0-100km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 260km/h.

Boasting a 96kWh battery and supporting DC fast charging up to 270kW, both Macan variants offer impressive performance credentials. Despite the potential model overlap, the Q6 e-Tron is anticipated to slot in below its Porsche counterpart in terms of pricing and performance.
