In anticipation of introducing its New Ultra Performance Hybrid Electrocharged Powertrain, Bentley pays homage to its iconic 4.0-litre Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with the creation of the Edition 8 series, designed exclusively for the North American market.

The Continental GT, Continental GTC, and Flying Spur ‘Edition 8’ models showcase a blend of luxury and performance, incorporating coveted Mulliner Personal Commissioning options.

The Edition 8 models boast Blackline specification exterior brightware, accompanied by eye-catching 22” wheels available in either 5 spoke or 10 spoke design. Inside, the Comfort Specification seats provide unparalleled comfort, complemented by Bentley’s acclaimed Rotating Display and contrast stitching. Customers have the opportunity to select their preferred paint finish from Mulliner’s Extended Paint range, offering more than 60 colors.

Another exclusive option, Palm Fluting, lends a unique style to the front and rear seating, marking its debut on any mainstream Bentley production model. Thoughtful details such as self-leveling wheel badges, LED welcome lamps, and the meticulously crafted ‘jewel’ filler cap add a touch of sophistication to the Edition 8 models. The Edition 8 badge adorns the fender of the Continental GT and Continental GTC models, while on the Flying Spur, it is prominently placed on the D Pillar.

Inside the cabin, the Edition 8 motif is embroidered on the seat backs and engraved on the treadplates, emphasizing the exclusivity of these models. Bentley announces the retirement of its current-generation 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine from the Continental GT, Continental GTC, and Flying Spur model lines, starting with the UK, Europe, and MEAI regions.

While the V8 engine will continue to power the Bentayga family, the decision to phase it out from other model lines marks a significant milestone in Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy. By 2024, all Bentley model lines will offer a hybrid variant, reflecting the brand’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

The V8 Engine has been a cornerstone of Bentley’s heritage for over 75 years, with the first L-Series V8 engine introduced in the S2 in 1959. Over the years, the V8 engine has undergone significant advancements, with the current-generation V8 delivering three times the power of its predecessor while occupying two-thirds of the capacity.

Since its inception in 2012, the 4.0-liter V8 has powered over 53,000 Continental GT, GTC, and Flying Spur models, each meticulously handcrafted at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England.
