The regulations and entry forms for the 2024 Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races are now accessible through the official website as of January 2nd. Within the first fifteen days of availability, a robust response has been witnessed, with a total of 72 entries from riders eager to participate in the event scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on May 24th, 25th, and 26th.
The current standout is the Junior (350cc) race, attracting the highest number of entries at 13, followed closely by the Singles race with 12 entries and the Senior Superbike with 11. The Senior (500cc) and Junior Superbike races also boast healthy participation, each gathering 9 entries.
Among the participants are three newcomers seeking guidance from our rider’s liaison officer, Chris Palmer, who boasts an impressive 13 race victories in the Pre-TT Classic Races.
George Peach, the Race Secretary, expressed optimism about the early response, stating, “Although entries for the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races don’t close until the end of February, it is an encouraging start to receive so many entries within the first fifteen days of entries being available.” He emphasized the enduring popularity of the Classics on the Billown Course since their inception in 1988, anticipating intense and thrilling racing.
The race classes for this year mirror the successful formats of previous years, encompassing 500cc, 350cc, 250cc, 350cc & 250cc Single Cylinder, Junior Superbikes, Senior Superbikes, Unlimited 1100cc, and the perennially favored Sidecars. The 125cc Post Classic Class, introduced two years ago, will be retained for a third year, with hopes of surpassing the participation numbers from 2022 and 2023.
Race Promoters, Southern 100 Racing, took the opportunity to remind potential competitors that entries for the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races will close earlier this year, specifically on Thursday, February 29th, 2024. The organizers are anticipating a vibrant and full Paddock, building on the positive initial response.
