Buell’s Super Cruiser is a variant of 1190 that has seen significant design input not only from Buell’s team but also from Roland Sands Design, a renowned custom and tuning powerhouse.
Compared to its base model, the 1190, the Super Cruiser boasts several key modifications aimed at enhancing performance, including improved steering angle and rake. Additionally, the bike features new 17-inch wheels, tires, and brakes, along with some minor tweaks to the chassis.
Underneath its frame, the Super Cruiser houses an 1190cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine capable of delivering 175 horsepower. Remarkably, despite its power, the bike weighs just 450 lbs (204 kg).
The concept of the Super Cruiser made its public debut at the 2023 Daytona Bike Week, and Buell intends to showcase a production-ready prototype at the same event this year, held from March 1 to 10.
This marks a significant step towards production, and it’s anticipated that the bike will be in the hands of private riders by the end of the year. However, there are still some refinements to be made, and Buell plans to gather feedback from select media during private test rides later in the spring.
Interest in the Super Cruiser is notably high, evident from Buell’s announcement last October that they had received $120 million in pre-orders, equivalent to approximately 4,000 motorcycles at an expected price of around $30,000 each.
Considering that Buell requires only a $50 pre-order deposit, it’s likely that the actual number of interested buyers is even higher. Buell’s CEO, Bill Melvin, anticipates 2024 to be a breakthrough year for the company, with the March unveiling of the Super Cruiser being the highlight of their lineup.
