Marquez, who rides for Gresini, didn’t start the race well from pole position. He fell back to third but managed to pass both Brad Binder and Jorge Martin to lead on lap 7.
He was doing well until lap 9 when he crashed at Turn 9. Marquez got back on his bike and finished seventh after other riders also crashed out. Later, he moved up to sixth because of penalties.
When asked if he was closer to winning his first race on the Desmosedici, he said, “Closer than Austin but still not enough.”
He was happy with his performance despite the crash. He said, “I did the most difficult thing [of taking the lead], but then I crashed in the easiest part of the race.”
He explained that he didn’t see the wet patch that caused his crash but was being cautious on that lap. He also mentioned that his crashes in the last few races were not due to pushing too hard.
Marquez crashed while leading in the last two races as well. He believes he’s mentally strong and isn’t worried about the crashes because he’s fast. He thinks his crashes were due to extra conditions, not pushing too hard.
Marquez is satisfied with his performance despite the crashes and believes he needs to work on consistency.
