In the mid-1980s, Milwaukee’s Softail line made its debut, offering a masterful blend of hardtail aesthetics and modern performance and handling.
This harmonious combination resulted in a highly popular series that remains in demand today. The Softail’s inherent potential for customization quickly attracted custom shops, fostering a vibrant market of unique, individualized builds.
Among these, the Hollywood Joe stands out, originating from a Harley-Davidson Street Bob. While impressive in its original state, the Street Bob’s modifiability makes it a favorite among enthusiasts.
German custom shop Thunderbike, known for their proficiency with Harley-Davidsons and Softails, took on the task of transforming the Street Bob into the Hollywood Joe. Their vision included a distinctive rear end, a redesigned triangular swingarm, a solo seat, and a short rear fender with an LED strip taillight.
Further modifications encompassed a new front fender and custom wheels, while the original Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin engine, exhaust, suspension, transmission, and brakes remained untouched. The result is the Hollywood Joe, a testament to the enduring charm and versatility of the Softail line.
