Adventure seekers, rejoice! Ducati’s DesertX family caters to riders who crave exploration, both on and off-road.
Introduced in late 2021, the DesertX carves a path through Ducati’s lineup as their premier adventure bike. While comfortable conquering long distances, it’s equally at home on enduro and rally terrains.
The DesertX boasts a signature Ducati feature: a steel trellis frame. This is paired with a long-travel suspension, ideal for tackling tough terrain. Power comes from a liquid-cooled Testastretta engine with a 937cc displacement, delivering 110 horsepower and 92 Nm of torque.
An impressive 5.5-gallon fuel tank ensures extended exploration without worrying about finding gas stations. To conquer uneven land, Ducati outfitted the DesertX with a first-ever 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination.
Upfront, the Ducati DesertX Discovery boasts reinforced handguards for better protection on the trails. Heated grips are a welcome addition for chilly rides, and a larger windscreen provides increased wind protection.
In a first for Ducati, the DesertX Discovery comes standard with turn-by-turn navigation powered by the Ducati multimedia system and Ducati Link App.
Riders can choose their destination and be guided based on preferred routes (fastest, most efficient, or toll-free) or utilize offline maps for areas with limited coverage.
Like its siblings, the Discovery offers five ride modes – three for on-road and two for off-road adventures. This new version sports a unique Thrilling Black/Ducati Red color scheme.
Ducati hasn’t announced the official release date, but the DesertX Discovery is already available on the company’s configurator.
Priced at $19,995 in the US, it represents a $2,000 premium over the base model, but includes a significant package of additional features.
The standard DesertX remains available for 2025 in Matt Star White Silk, while both the standard and Rally versions (starting at $22,995) offer a detuned 47-horsepower option for A2 license holders.
The introduction of the Discovery underlines the growing importance of the DesertX family for Ducati, leaving riders to wonder what future innovations might be on the horizon.
