A cornerstone of Ducati’s success has been its powerful and distinctive engines. With memorable names that reflect their capabilities, these engines have propelled Ducati to legendary status. However, one such engine, the Superquadro, is about to take its final bow.

The Superquadro made its first appearance in 2011, powering the 1199 Panigale with its 1,198cc displacement. The name itself hints at the engine’s design, with a high bore-to-stroke ratio for optimal performance.

This 90-degree V-twin, featuring Ducati’s signature desmodromic valve system, quickly spawned a family of engines ranging from 898cc to 1,285cc. These potent engines have not only delivered exhilarating performance on the street but also achieved racing glory.

In 2023, the Superquadro powered Nicolò Bulega to victory in the Supersport World Championship and dominated the MotoAmerica Supersport championship for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023. Ducati is now bidding farewell to this remarkable engine era with a special edition motorcycle the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition.

A momentous occasion for Ducati enthusiasts, the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition commemorates the end of an era for the legendary Superquadro engine. Ducati is pulling out all the stops for this swan song, crafting a mere 555 units for the global market.

Each motorcycle will be a numbered collector’s item, complete with a certificate of authenticity and a personalized cover displayed on the triple clamp. But the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition isn’t just a museum piece.

Ducati caters to both collectors and adrenaline seekers by offering a dedicated track kit. This kit sheds unnecessary weight by removing the license plate and mirrors, while simultaneously enhancing performance with an aluminum tank cap and a GPS module featuring DDA data acquisition. The result? A transformed machine primed to dominate the racetrack.

Powering this limited-edition Panigale is a 955cc Superquadro engine, churning out a potent 155 horsepower. Ohlins suspension, renowned for its exceptional handling and control, ensures a thrilling ride on either road or track.

With its exclusivity, performance pedigree, and fascinating design, the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition is certain to command a premium price, though Ducati has yet to reveal the official figure.

Expect to see this magnificent machine arrive at dealerships by October 2024. Interestingly, the curtain falls on the Superquadro V-twin engine, but the Superquadro name continues. Ducati recently introduced the Superquadro Mono, a single-cylinder engine currently powering the Hypermotard 698 Mono.
