Lucas Layum’s Lucky Custom, a Cordoba, Argentina-based shop renowned for its custom motorcycles, has been fascinating enthusiasts and the press worldwide since its 2006 inception. Their 103rd project, a one-off supermoto, was born from a client’s desire to transcend factory offerings. A 1993 Yamaha XT600 served as the unconventional canvas for this transformation.
Stripped down to its engine and shock, the bike underwent a radical overhaul. Lucky Custom crafted a new trellis frame inspired by the Ducati Hypermotard, complemented by an in-house aluminum swingarm.
The front end received a substantial upgrade with premium inverted forks and custom triple clamps. To complete the supermoto transformation, the team fitted 17-inch Yamaha R6 wheels with Michelin tires.
This Yamaha has been given a complete makeover from top to bottom, transforming its performance and appearance. The braking system has been entirely revamped to improve stopping power, featuring new discs, hoses, and rebuilt master cylinders. The engine has also been thoroughly overhauled and fitted with a high-flow air filter and a custom exhaust system for better performance.
The bodywork has been extensively redesigned, with the most striking feature being a new tank cover that conceals the fuel cell. The front end features a unique design that integrates the headlight housings, fender, and fork covers into a single unit. Twin LED headlights provide excellent illumination, while the taillight is integrated into the subframe tubing.
A custom-made seat with black leather upholstery and diamond stitching completes the stylish look. Billet aluminum foot pegs and handlebars with white grips round out the ergonomic upgrades, and the entire project has been named “Malambo.”
