Dustin Kott, a renowned custom motorcycle builder from Santa Clarita, California, has long been admired for his unique and high-quality creations. Known for his preference for classic Japanese bikes, Kott Motorcycles has a reputation for avoiding repetition and creating bikes with distinct personalities.
One such project is a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750, which has been transformed into a stunning cafe racer. Kott began by extensively modifying the KZ750’s frame, shortening the rear subframe, and revising the main structure to accommodate the new bodywork.
The minimalist design features a handcrafted fuel tank and a sleek tail unit, complemented by a luxurious brown leather saddle. The front end has been upgraded with a Suzuki GSX-R1000 inverted fork, Tokico calipers, and drilled brake discs, mounted on a Cognito Moto front wheel hub and Sun rim.
To further enhance the bike’s performance and aesthetics, Kott added a set of high-quality aftermarket handlebars, mirrors, and footpegs. The bike’s electrical system was also completely rebuilt, with a modern wiring harness and a compact LED lighting system. The finishing touches included a custom paint job in a deep, metallic blue, and a set of high-performance tires.

Its rear end features a unique hoop, a Honda CB750 swingarm, and a wheel hub. A drilled rotor enhances braking power, while Bridgestone tires provide excellent grip. The rear suspension has been upgraded with modern shocks and chromed springs. Clip-on handlebars and aftermarket rearsets complete the cafe racer transformation.
Under the hood, the inline-four engine has received a performance boost. Keihin CR carburetors and aftermarket pod filters optimize airflow, while a custom stainless-steel four-into-one exhaust system with a Cone Engineering silencer enhances exhaust flow. The motorcycle’s appearance is further enhanced by a striking red paint job with gold pinstriping and Kott tank logos.
The rims, foot peg mounts, and clip-ons are also finished in gold to match the forks and headlight lens, while the double-cradle frame and most of the engine components are black.
