Zach and Jake Hindes, brothers who grew up near Charlotte, North Carolina, have always had a deep passion for motorcycles. Their shared love for two-wheeled machines eventually led them to establish Prism Supply Co. in 2012, which has since grown into a thriving business.

Based out of an old fire station in Charlotte, the company specializes in Harley-Davidson motorcycles and offers a range of services, including parts fabrication, wearables, and custom builds. One of Prism Supply’s most impressive projects is the custom chopper they built for Sid Tangerine, a talented photographer.

Sid wanted a motorcycle that was full of classic character and heritage, and he found the perfect starting point in a 1948 Harley-Davidson Panhead. With the help of his team, Zach and Jake spared no expense in transforming the antique bike into a stunning custom chopper.

After disassembling the Panhead, the Prism team removed the factory bodywork and other unnecessary components, leaving them with a blank canvas to work with. The first major modification was to the V-twin engine, which underwent a complete rebuild. To enhance the engine’s performance, the team added a Darlington air cleaner and a custom exhaust system with eye-catching headers and slash-cut tips.

Additionally, they replaced the factory clutch with a foot-operated clutch and a jockey shifter. This Panhead’s transformation is a testament to the art of the chopper. With its sleek lines, minimalist design, and classic charm, this custom motorcycle is a true standout. From the custom forks and triple clamps to the retro-inspired wheels and brakes, every detail has been carefully crafted to create a unique and timeless aesthetic.

The black and chrome color scheme adds a touch of sophistication, while the handmade seat and custom handlebars provide both comfort and style. The Panhead’s custom fuel tank, crafted from a Shovelhead’s two-piece tank, is another standout feature. The tank’s shape and finish perfectly complement the design of the motorcycle, further enhancing its chopper-like appearance.

The minimalist rear fender with integrated taillights and the tall sissy bar also contribute to the bike’s distinctive look. In addition to its striking appearance, the Panhead also boasts several functional upgrades. The custom suspension provides a smooth and comfortable ride, while the modern throttle and minimalistic controls offer a user-friendly experience. The mid-mounted footpegs and comfortable seat ensure that the rider can enjoy long rides in comfort.

The Panhead’s attention to detail is evident in every aspect of its design. The intricate chrome plating, the precise welding of the fuel tank, and the careful selection of materials all contribute to the bike’s exceptional quality. The result is a motorcycle that is not only visually stunning but also a joy to ride.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal and functional upgrades, the Panhead also represents a deep appreciation for the history and heritage of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The bike’s classic design elements pay homage to the iconic models of the past, while its modern touches demonstrate the brand’s enduring appeal.

This Panhead is a true masterpiece of custom motorcycle building. It is a testament to the skill and creativity of its builders, and it is sure to be admired by enthusiasts and collectors alike. It is a motorcycle that captures the essence of the chopper culture, offering a unique and unforgettable riding experience.
