In the custom motorcycle building, where creativity and craftsmanship converge, JM Customs stood out as a beacon of excellence. Led by the visionary James Moir, the Perth based workshop was a haven for talented artisans who could transform ordinary motorcycles into extraordinary works of art.
However, the challenges posed by the pandemic forced many such businesses to close their doors, including JM Customs. One of their most impressive creations was a futuristic street scrambler built for Gary, a Moto Guzzi enthusiast from Belfast. Gary, impressed by JM Customs’ previous work, commissioned them to create a custom bike based on his 1984-model V65 SP.
The team at JM Customs meticulously disassembled the donor bike, stripping away the factory bodywork, subframe, shock absorbers, and exhaust system. With a clean slate, they began crafting a new subframe from scratch to accommodate Gary’s height.
The custom-built Guzzi V65 scrambler is a sight to behold. Its sleek, minimalist design is accentuated by its unique color scheme and handmade aluminum side panels. A bespoke electronics box, featuring a modern battery and regulator/rectifier, sits behind the mesh covered cut-outs on the side panels. The bike’s handling and performance have been significantly enhanced with upgraded suspension components, brakes, and engine internals.
The scrambler’s suspension has been overhauled with rebuilt original forks featuring youthful internals, Fastec Racing caps, and Schrader valves. Additionally, the rear shocks have been replaced with adjustable YSS units linked to bespoke upper mounts. The brakes have also been upgraded with braided Kevlar hoses from HEL Performance, providing improved stopping power.
The engine has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, including new valves, rings, seals, and gaskets. The freshly rebuilt carbs are topped with DNA pod filters, and the custom made exhaust terminates in an SC-Project muffler. These modifications have significantly enhanced the engine’s performance and power output.
The bike’s aesthetic appeal is further enhanced by its custom painted fuel tank, which features a stunning fade effect blending gloss black and blue.
The framework is enveloped in matte black powder coating, and gold highlights are present on the engine and side covers. While the color scheme is subdued, it is sure to make the scrambler stand out and attract attention wherever it goes.
The custom built Guzzi V65 scrambler is a truly remarkable motorcycle. Its combination of striking design, enhanced performance, and upgraded components make it a standout choice for riders seeking a unique and capable scrambler.
