Pepo Rosell, a legendary figure in custom motorcycles, has once again showcased his unparalleled talent with the Imatra. Inspired by the grueling Finnish road racing circuit, this custom build is based on a 1990 Honda XBR500.
Stripped of its original bodywork and featuring a significantly reworked subframe, the Imatra exudes a raw, timeless appeal reminiscent of the Giacomo Agostini era.
The bike’s aggressive stance is further enhanced by its inverted front forks, sourced from an Aprilia RS125, and its rear suspension, which now boasts a pair of Hagon shock absorbers. To complement the modern suspension components, Rosell has also fitted the Imatra with a set of custom wheels, featuring Excel rims and stainless steel spokes.
The braking system has been upgraded as well, with a Brembo radial caliper a drilled NG rotor up front, and a repurposed drum brake from a Mash Five Hundred at the rear. The Imatra’s true artistry lies in its bespoke bodywork. Every panel, from the sleek tank to the sculpted tail section, has been meticulously crafted to create a cohesive and visually striking design.
The aesthetic is one of raw power and elegance, reflecting Rosell’s signature style and his deep understanding of motorcycle design. The XTR Pepo’s most striking feature is its custom full fairing, reminiscent of classic race bikes, secured by stainless steel mounts. A clear windshield and a slim carbon fiber fender complement the fairing, while the Yamaha TZ250’s fuel tank replaces the original.
The tail unit, originally from the smaller TZ125, adds to the retro-inspired look. A simple black leather seat connects the tank and tail, while the cockpit has been completely modernized. Clip-on handlebars, attached to a CNC-machined top clamp, feature Domino grips and adjustable control levers. The only instrument is a Koso tachometer, centrally positioned next to a Rizoma brake fluid reservoir.
Billet rearsets enhance the ergonomics, and the engine has been fully rebuilt with components like a Wiseco high-compression piston and a Honda XL’s crankshaft.
The cylinder has been bored out to increase displacement to 600cc, and a high performance race camshaft has been installed.
A Keihin FCR 39 carburetor and a custom under seat exhaust system handle breathing. The bike’s Imatra livery perfectly reflects XTR Pepo’s bold and colorful style.
