Following the recent announcement of the Husqvarna EE 5 motocross bike, which introduced water cooling for its electric powertrain, GasGas has now revealed its own water-cooled electric dirt bike, the MC-E 5. This innovative cooling system offers significant advantages over traditional methods, primarily by extending the bike’s operating time by up to 30%.
The GasGas MC-E 5 retains its 5 kW electric motor and drivetrain, while the new water-cooling system enhances performance and battery life. Although specific battery life figures are not disclosed, it’s likely to offer up to two hours of casual riding or half an hour of intense riding, similar to the Husqvarna EE 5.
The battery supports fast charging, reaching 80% capacity in just 45 minutes, and can be easily replaced or charged at standard household outlets. The bike features a redesigned frame with optimized flex characteristics for improved stability, paired with a fiberglass-reinforced subframe and WP XACT suspension with a modified shock position.
Black anodized aluminum wheels wrapped in Maxxis MX-ST tires provide excellent grip, while hydraulic brakes with wavey discs offer reliable stopping power, controlled by a rear pedal like a conventional dirt bike.
The GasGas MC-E 5, a sleek electric motorcycle, offers a thrilling ride with six adjustable ride modes controlled through a single center. Its adaptable frame height caters to riders of various sizes, ensuring comfort and control.
Safety is paramount, with a rollover sensor that instantly halts the motor in case of a tip-over. The bike’s design, inspired by GasGas’ full-size models, boasts a striking blue accent against a black backdrop, featuring Neken handlebars and ODI grips for enhanced control. The 2025 MC-E 5 is set to hit dealerships worldwide later this month, though pricing details remain undisclosed.
