The BMW K100, once a stalwart of the 80s touring scene, has been reborn as a sleek cafe racer thanks to the masterful touch of Spitfire Speed Shop. This British workshop, renowned for its stylish clothing line, has a history of transforming classic motorcycles into modern masterpieces.
Their 2020 K100 build is a testament to their skill and creativity. Originally intended for the 2020 Bike Shed Moto Show, this bike underwent a radical transformation. The stock bodywork was stripped away, leaving only the fuel tank.
The front end was overhauled with inverted forks from a Suzuki GSX-R1000, mated to custom CNC-machined triple clamps. To complement the upgraded suspension, the bike received Brembo brakes from the same donor bike.
The rear end was equally impressive. A bespoke subframe was fabricated from billet aluminum, integrating an under-seat electronics box and supporting a sleek cafe racer tail. A custom-made suspension linkage, incorporating an adjustable YSS shock absorber, provides both performance and style.
The cockpit was stripped down to the essentials, featuring a Motogadget Motoscope Mini digital dash, clip-on handlebars, and bar-end turn signals. A minimalist headlight and the absence of mirrors further emphasize the bike’s clean lines.
The engine, too, received a significant makeover. The fuel injection system was replaced with a set of Keihin carburetors, paired with custom manifolds and pod filters. A four into one exhaust system not only enhances performance but also adds to the bike’s aggressive aesthetic. The final touch was the paint job, which combines a dark grey hue with black accents on the engine, wheels, and frame.
