At this stage, it’s uncertain whether the prototype includes carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic for its hood, roof, and aerodynamic elements, similar to the previous M2 CS. While some of these carbon parts are optional on the regular M2, they are expected to be featured on the M2 CS.
There’s anticipation for increased power under the hood. While the regular M2 boasts a 3.0-liter turbo-6 engine peaking at 453 hp, the power output for the M2 CS remains undisclosed. However, it’s speculated to approach the 473 hp of the base M3 with rear-wheel drive and a manual transmission.
The debut of the new M2 CS is projected for the second half of 2024, suggesting it will likely be released as a 2025 model. As with other CS models, production is anticipated to be limited.
Before the reveal, BMW is preparing to launch an M3 CS Touring, with prototypes of the high-performance wagon already undergoing testing. Furthermore, there are indications that an upcoming M4 CS model is in development.
