Introduction of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X Electric SUV Concept Scheduled for Next Week

BMW has offered a sneak peek at the Vision Neue Klasse X, providing an initial glimpse of its forthcoming electric SUV platform. This move signals the automaker’s commitment to electrification and serves as a precursor to the anticipated next-generation electric BMW X3. The full reveal of this concept is slated for next week.

Teased on BMW’s social media platforms, the preview showcases the Vision Neue Klasse X’s infotainment screen, reminiscent of the minimalist interior design seen in the conceptual Vision Neue Klasse sedan revealed last September.

Unlike its sedan counterpart, this new rendition embraces vibrant orange tones instead of the previously featured yellow accents.

What Can We Expect From Neue Klasse X?

The inclusion of “X” in the concept’s name confirms its SUV classification, aligning with BMW’s terminology of SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle). This signals the transformation of the former Neue Klasse sedan into an SUV variant.

While the teaser offers glimpses of its futuristic styling, much remains shrouded in mystery under the camouflaged presentation.

Similar to the non-SAV Neue Klasse, the X version is likely to boast a button-free, minimalist cabin adorned with a sizable screen for the next-generation iDrive system and a head-up display on the windshield. Anticipated enhancements in cabin space will likely distinguish the Neue Klasse X from its sedan counterpart.

Although not officially confirmed, the Vision Neue Klasse X is expected to serve as a preview of the next-generation iX3. Known internally as NA5 (or NK5), glimpses of the test mule surfaced last year, with sightings on public roads earlier this year.

Internal sources suggest that it will be available in eDrive40, eDrive50, and M60 variants, with the M60 model purportedly delivering up to 610 horsepower.

The introduction of the Neue Klasse X and insights into the future of electric BMW SUVs are set to be disclosed on March 21, 2024, during the BMW Group Annual Press Conference.
