The 2024 Genesis G80’s objective is a gentle luxury, and it delivers. The huge sedan’s smooth ride and opulent interior make it appear more like a bargain Bentley than a competitor to the Audi A6, BMW 5-series, and Mercedes-Benz E-class.

The sleek style and high-value price tag are the icing on the cake. The base model is powered by a 300-hp turbo four, but an optional twin-turbo 375-hp V-6 ups the performance ante with a smooth-running attitude.

The V-6 adds “Sport” to the G80’s nomenclature, but in our experience, even these vehicles fall short of sports sedan criteria. If you want something more thrilling, one of the Genesis rivals could be a better option.

The G80 remains substantially intact for 2024, with the exception of all-wheel drive becoming standard across the board and the addition of a 3.5T Sport Advanced grade as an intermediate step between the 3.5T Sport and the loaded 3.5T Sport Prestige.

A Wi-Fi hotspot and lane-centering for adaptive cruise control are now standard features.

2024 Genesis G80 Interior

The G80’s interior is appropriately posh, given its primary purpose as a premium vehicle. Its cabin is elegantly designed, with a streamlined dashboard, soft-touch surfaces, and luxurious materials.

The steering wheel has an unusual design, and the rotary shift knob is seldom as straightforward as automakers believe, especially when placed near other circular-shaped devices, but the inside of the G80 is stunning.

A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, ambient interior lighting, a head-up display, and heated and ventilated front and back seats are among the desired features of the car. The G80 offers greater headroom and legroom than the previous model, which was already large.

The G80’s infotainment system is controlled by a massive 14.5-inch touchscreen that protrudes from the top of the dashboard.

The display is controlled by a circular controller in the center console, buttons on the steering wheel, and voice instructions. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included on every G80.

The infotainment system also has a strong Lexicon audio system with multiple sound settings.

The G80 sedan comes standard with a slew of driver-assistance features, including Smart Park. The device, which is also available on select Hyundai vehicles, allows the driver to guide the vehicle into and out of tight parking spaces without having to take the wheel.

2024 Genesis G80 Performance

The base G80 comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four that produces 300 horsepower with either rear- or all-wheel drive.

Buyers looking for greater acceleration can choose the more powerful Sport grade, which has a 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 and all-wheel drive.

Both engines are connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. At our test track, the turbocharged four-cylinder ran a brisk 5.7 seconds to 60 mph, while the V-6 took 4.9 seconds.

The G80 has a comfortable ride, easy steering, and reliable brakes, but it lacks the athleticism of other competitors.

The Sport variant adds greater agility and will provide more excitement behind the wheel for passionate drivers. However, it is not as sporty as the Audi A6 or Jaguar XF.

According to the EPA, the G80, with the standard four-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive, may achieve up to 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the interstate. The more powerful twin-turbo V-6 delivers 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

The G80 2.5T with all-wheel drive returned 29 mpg on our 75-mph fuel-economy test route, while the V-6-powered vehicle returned 28 mpg. Visit the EPA’s website for additional information on the G80’s fuel efficiency.
