£1.2m, R35 GT-R-Powered Praga Bohema Goes Into Production

If you’re an affluent enthusiast with a penchant for extraordinary niche hypercars, today brings exciting news. Praga, the Czech manufacturer with a legacy dating back to 1907 and a current focus on race cars, has officially commenced the production of its Bohema.

This marks Praga’s inaugural venture into crafting a purpose-built road-legal hypercar, following more than a decade of expertise in manufacturing the R4 and R1 race cars, coupled with a brief period of homologating the latter for road use with the R1R.

A cursory glance at the Bohema is enough to convey its serious demeanor, and the specifications reinforce that impression. Powered by a Nissan VR38DETT engine, the same powerhouse found in the R35 GT-R, the Bohema boasts an impressive 700bhp from its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6. It’s worth noting that it diverges from the GT-R drivetrain, channeling all that power exclusively to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox.

This setup creates an enticing recipe, especially considering the substantial power is contained within a chassis weighing ‘below’ 1,000kg overall. Impressive, indeed.

Praga hasn’t disclosed the precise duration for building each car, acknowledging that the handmade nature of the process might take some time. The first customer deliveries are anticipated in the first half of 2024, suggesting a meticulous production timeline. Understandably, given the craftsmanship involved, Praga has announced that the Bohema will be produced “in very low numbers over the next four years.”

The exclusivity of the Bohema is further accentuated by its price tag, starting at €1.36m (approximately £1.2 million). It’s not just an exclusive model; it comes with a considerable price tag.

Tomas Kasparek, Praga’s owner, expressed, “This is an important milestone for Praga in our long 117-year history. We’re especially proud to be commencing production only one year after revealing the Bohema prototype car. We are monitoring every stage of the build process very closely to make sure that the Bohema production car matches and even exceeds our customers’ expectations.”
