We can all unanimously agree that January can be a challenging month – it’s cold and dark, and our wallets are feeling a bit depleted. However, if you happen to still have some leftover Christmas funds waiting to be spent, there’s an enticing option for you: an exclusive Italian supercar.

Meet the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa, one of only 12 ever produced. The term ‘Versione Corsa’ translates directly to ‘Version Race,’ indicating that this is a track-only iteration of the V12 supercar from the 2000s, directly derived from the GT1-spec racer. The FIA-homologated racer achieved back-to-back Spa 24 Hour victories and numerous championships, showcasing its genuine motorsport pedigree.

This particular MC12 Versione Corsa, being one of the twelve, was not bound by any rulebook. It was designed as an unrestrained machine for private track days, akin to Ferrari’s FXX program, which has been running concurrently. The 6.0-litre naturally-aspirated F140B V12 engine, without any restrictions, delivered an astounding 745bhp at 8,000rpm – a significant 125bhp increase over the road car. Power was transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed ‘Cambiocorsa’ automated manual gearbox, without the aid of traction, stability control, or ABS – features unnecessary for a 0-124mph sprint time of 6.4 seconds.

The de-restricted F140B engine was a powerhouse, generating 745bhp. The modifications included a more aggressive rear wing, replacing the molded spoiler on the Stradale, along with canards and a substantial diffuser. The weight was also reduced by 200kg, reaching 1,150kg – a noteworthy achievement considering the already streamlined nature of the regular road car, even with the inclusion of a roll cage.

Chassis 0008, painted in a distinctive and undoubtedly unique bright orange, is the car set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in Paris on January 31. However, prospective buyers should be prepared to dig deep into their pockets, as it is anticipated to command a price as high as €3,500,000 (approximately £3 million). In other words, it’s a luxurious investment rather than an economical bargain.
