Jeep has unveiled a sneak peek of its upcoming all-electric SUV, the Wagoneer S, accompanied by some preliminary details about the production version. The American automaker plans to introduce the electric vehicle to the US market by the close of 2024, with a subsequent global release slated for 2025.
Positioned as a slightly smaller option compared to the Grand Cherokee, the Wagoneer S is anticipated to be among the first vehicles utilizing Stellantis group’s STLA-Large platform, specially designed for larger and more luxurious electric vehicles. Despite its electric focus, the vehicle maintains Jeep’s distinctive design, featuring the iconic seven-slot grille, now stylishly illuminated in a modern fashion.
Alongside the early release of the SUV’s front-end image, Jeep has disclosed key performance specifications. The Wagoneer S is set to boast a robust 600 horsepower, enabling it to achieve a swift acceleration to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.
This electric SUV marks the second entry in Jeep’s trio of electric vehicles slated for global markets following the introduction of the compact Avenger. The lineup will be completed with the release of the Recon, a rugged and durable 4×4 model akin to the Wrangler.
Christian Meunier, the former head of the Jeep brand, highlighted the diversity within the shared platform of these electric vehicles, stating, “It’s amazing to know these two babies are based on the same platform, but it’s a day-and-night difference – one is a rocket, and the other is a brick on wheels!”
Anticipated for a spring 2024 launch, the Wagoneer S represents Jeep’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings and embracing the evolving landscape of automotive technology.
