F1 drivers competing in Daytona 24 Hours and previous winners

The Daytona 24 Hours kick-off will occur on Saturday 27th of January, and will conclude on Sunday 28th of January. This endurance race, lasting for 24 hours, will unfold at the Daytona International Speedway situated in Florida.

The 3.56-mile long Sports Car Course layout that hosts the race includes certain aspects of Daytona’s banked oval circuit as well as some infield corners.

It is a renowned event that draws drivers from different motorsport sectors, including those from Formula 1. This article covers entire details of the F1 drivers partaking in the Daytona 24 Hours race this year and previous F1 winners of the event.

Regarding the Formula 1 drivers competing in the Daytona 24 Hours, we have Jenson Button representing GTP. The photo has been provided by LAT Photo USA for IMSA.

Jenson Button who represents Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura ARX-06, has 306 F1 starts, one F1 championship (Brawn – 2009), no Daytona 24 Hours starts, and no Daytona 24 Hours wins. As part of the Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti team, Button will be driving the Acura ARX-06 alongside his full-season IMSA team-mates Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz.

IndyCar superstar Colton Herta will be the final addition to this lineup. Through his 17 years in Formula 1, Button raced for several teams such as Williams, Benetton, Renault, and McLaren to name a few.

Though recognized primarily for his time in Formula 1, Button does have experience with endurance races. Prior to his arrival in F1, he competed in the 1999 24 Hours of Spa, partnering Tomas Enge and David Saelens. His shift to sports car racing has been successful, evidenced by his 2018 Super GT title won alongside fellow team mate Naoki Yamamoto.

In addition to his F1 career, Button raced both in IMSA and at Le Mans in 2023. He managed a fifth-place finish at IMSA’s Petit Le Mans race in Atlanta, driving a Porsche 963 for the JDC-Miller Motorsport team. He also drove a modified NASCAR automobile in the Garage 56 class while making his return to Le Mans.

Felipe Massa will be representing LMP2. The photo has been provided by Art Fleischmann. Felipe Massa has 269 F1 starts, no F1 championships, no Daytona 24 Hours starts, and no Daytona 24 Hours wins.

He will be racing along with Gar Robinson, Felipe Fraga, and Josh Burden for the Riley team in an ORECA-Gibson 07 as a one-off deal. Massa enjoyed a 15-season career in Formula 1, racing for prominent teams such as Sauber, Ferrari and Williams, claiming 11 victories in total.

Romain Grosjean will serve as the gt daytona representative. The photo is provided by Richard Dole / Motorsport Images. For the Daytona 24 Hours, Grosjean will compete in the pro-am GT Daytona category.

He will drive the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 for Iron Lynx. Team-mates Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni, and Matteo Cairoli will accompany Grosjean.

In addition, Paul di Resta is competing in the LMP2 category. The photo has been provided by Michael L. Levitt / Motorsport Images. Paul Di Resta, with team-mates Daniel Goldburg, Bijoy Garg and Felix Rosenqvist, will be driving an ORECA-Gibson 07 for United Autosports.

The Scottish driver has been part of the DTM for ten seasons, winning the title with Mercedes in 2010. From 2011 to 2013, Di Resta was a driver for the Force India Formula One team for three consecutive seasons.

Another participant from the GTP category is Felipe Nasr, whose photo was provided by Richard Dole / Motorsport Images. Nasr will partner with teammates Dane Cameron, Josef Newgarden, and Matt Campbell in their Porsche 963 as part of the official Porsche Penske Motorsport team.

Further from the GTP category, Marcus Ericsson will be handling a second Acura ARX-06 entry from Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti. The photo has been provided by Richard Dole / Motorsport Images. Besides the IMSA full-timers Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque, fellow ex-F1 driver Brendon Hartley completes the lineup.

Sebastien Bourdais, from the GTP category, will compete alongside team-mates Renger van der Zande, Scott Dixon, and Alex Palou during the Daytona 24 Hours race.
