Hour four commenced with an immediate caution when serial LMP2 spinner Lance Willsey lost control of the #33 Ligier, almost colliding with Colton Herta’s then second-placed #10 WTRA Acura near Turn 6.
During the caution, Dixon remained on the track while Aitken pitted, granting himself a 30% energy advantage. This decision resulted in a Caddy 1-2, with Yelloly leading after a forceful pass on Hartley’s #10 Acura at the Bus Stop.
Throughout the fifth hour, the Caddy duo faced pursuit from the BMW team, as Acura and Porsche opted to stay back with a watching brief. Teams chose to double-stint tires, ensuring fresh rubber for the later stages of the race.
Two additional cautions occurred in this period. The first was triggered by the #33 Ligier, which came to a halt, and the second by the #023 Triarsi Ferrari GTD shedding its rear bodywork, alongside the #40 WTRA Acura of Jordan Taylor, affected by a power steering issue, spinning.
When the race resumed, Porsche’s Campbell seized control, overtaking Maxime Martin’s BMW and Tom Blomqvist’s AXR Cadillac on consecutive laps. Campbell led with a significant advantage, presenting a formidable challenge to Cadillac’s dominance.
Ganassi Cadillac’s strategy faltered during the first yellow of Hour 5, resulting in a longer stop and dropping IndyCar champion Alex Palou’s P1 to P6. Despite this setback, Palou steadily climbed back up the order.
At the six-hour mark, Campbell led by 12 seconds over Derani, followed by van der Zande, who took over after Palou. The BMWs and Acuras trailed closely behind.
In the white-hot LMP2 battle, the #04 Crowdstrike by APR and #2 United Autosports ORECAs continued their thrilling duel for the class lead. The Hour 6 mark saw Jakobsen leading, with Felipe Fraga in for Felipe Massa running second, while Hanley fell back to sixth.
Hour four started with McLaren’s Pfaff Motorsports facing a setback, as Marvin Kirchoffer’s leading McLaren 720S experienced a front-right upright problem, requiring a trip to the garage.
Aston Martin briefly took the class lead, with Roman De Angelis at the helm, but after six hours, Paul Miller Racing’s BMW M4, driven by Bryan Sellers, led, followed by Antonio Fuoco’s Cetilar Racing Ferrari and the Korthoff Mercedes of Kenton Koch.
