Porsche Set To Produce 20000 Macans In 2024 With Figures To Double

The debut of the 2024 Porsche Macan has been nothing short of remarkable, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from potential buyers. Enthusiasts of the Porsche brand, as well as newcomers, are eagerly lining up to acquire the first electric SUV from the renowned German automaker.

Unveiled just last week, the all-new, all-electric Porsche Macan is making significant promises, and early reviews suggest that it lives up to the expectations, delivering impressive performance. Recent road tests further confirm that the second-generation Macan excels in range, establishing itself as a highly accomplished electric vehicle (EV).

Porsche’s spokesperson disclosed the company’s production targets, aiming to manufacture up to 20,000 units by the end of the current year. Looking ahead to 2025, contingent on a smooth production ramp-up, the company anticipates an increase in manufacturing to between 40,000 and 60,000 units.

Remarkably, the production process involves a considerable amount of manual labor, with approximately 60 hours dedicated to crafting each Macan, depending on the optional equipment chosen.

Notably, the new Macan marks the first electric vehicle produced at the Leipzig plant, as the Taycan is manufactured in Stuttgart. Consequently, the high demand has resulted in a waiting list ranging from 6 to 8 months at the current order volume. The introduction of the Macan in China in April is expected to extend waiting times further.

An interesting development is the discontinuation of the gas-powered Macan of the first generation in Europe, although it will continue to be available in the United States and a few other global markets.

This decision is attributed to the implementation of a new cybersecurity law in Europe scheduled to take effect in July.

Compliance with the law would require a complete redesign of the original Macan’s electrical architecture, which the company deemed financially unfeasible. As a result, only the electric Macan will be offered for sale in Europe.
