Valentino Rossi’s team-mates revealed for BMW WEC and GTWCE campaigns

The seven-time MotoGP world champion will maintain his partnership with factory driver Martin, sharing a Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 in both series this year.

Their collaboration started in 2023 in the GTWCE, where they achieved success. In the WEC’s new LMGT3 class, Rossi, rated as silver, will team up with Martin and bronze-rated Ahmad Al Harthy.

Moving on to the GTWCE Endurance Cup Pro class, Rossi and Martin will be joined by new BMW signee Marciello. This lineup will compete, including the iconic Spa 24 Hours, at the end of June.

Rossi and Martin will also participate in the first two rounds of the GTWCE Sprint Cup at Brands Hatch and Misano in May, the circuits where Rossi secured his best results last year.

Al Harthy, transitioning to WRT after a maiden WEC season with TF Sport Aston Martin in 2023, adds further strength to the team.

Rossi’s confirmed participation in the GTWCE program ensures he will be part of a minimum of 16 race weekends, marking his third season with the Belgian team after transitioning to car racing time after his MotoGP retirement.

This race schedule will consist of eight WEC races, five GTWCE enduros, the two double-header events in the sprint segment, and the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the Bathurst 12 Hours.

Rossi, expressing his enthusiasm for the 2024 program, emphasized the strength of his teammates in GTWCE and his eagerness to compete in the WEC.

Martin expressed his happiness about rejoining forces with Rossi for the upcoming season. Marciello, primarily racing for WRT in the Hypercar class of the WEC, praised the GTWCE lineup as a “very strong ticket.”

BMW stalwart Augusto Farfus, listed alongside Rossi in the WEC entry, will share the #31 M4 with Sean Gelael and Darren Leung, transitioning to LMGT3 after successful years in LMP2.

WRT’s Pro class M4 in GTWCE enduros will be driven by the all-factory lineup of Dries Vanthoor, Sheldon van der Linde, and Charles Weerts. This trio will also compete in the Sprint Cup, aiming for their fourth title in five seasons.

Al Harthy’s program extends to the GTWCE enduros in the Bronze Cup class, sharing the track with factory drivers Jens Klingmann and Sam De Haan. De Haan is joining sprints with Callan Williams, while the third full-season car for short-format GTWCE races remains pending announcement.
