The Lucid Air Electric Vehicle (EV) has now become part of the Saudi Police Patrol Fleet at the World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia.
This addition to the fleet showcases a Lucid Air vehicle equipped with a siren and a drone deployer mounted on its roof, leading a convoy of police cars.
The Lucid Air police car features a distinctive two-tone design adorned with the iconic black and white livery of the Saudi Arabia Police. Additionally, it sports prominent “Police” and “911” decals, making it easily recognizable in the field.
Lucid Motors, in collaboration with the Saudi government, has introduced this new line of police cruisers based on its luxurious Air electric sedan during the ongoing World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia, which runs from the 4th to the 8th of February.
In a video shared by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Interior on social media, the specially equipped Lucid Air, complete with its siren and drone deployer, was captured leading the police convoy, highlighting its integration into law enforcement operations.
This initiative stems from a significant investment agreement signed back in 2018 between Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund and Lucid Motors, a renowned California-based Electric Vehicle (EV) startup.
Though the specific variant tailored for Saudi Arabia’s police duties has not been detailed, the Lucid Air model lineup comprises four trim levels: standard, Touring, Grand Touring, and the prestigious Dream Edition.
Starting at $52,100 for the standard model and going up to $161,500 for the top-of-the-range Dream Edition, the Lucid Air offers exceptional performance. The Dream Edition, boasting 1080 horsepower, features bespoke interior features and can accelerate from 0-60mph in a staggering 2.5 seconds.
One of the standout features of the Lucid Air is its rapid charging capability, touted as “the fastest-charging electric vehicle ever offered.” All variants are claimed to be capable of recuperating 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes when connected to a DC fast charger, underscoring its practicality and efficiency in everyday use.
