Niece Motorsports has unveiled its driver lineup for the upcoming NASCAR Truck Series season, with Bayley Currey piloting the No. 41 machine and Matt Mills at the helm of the No. 42 entry.
In a dynamic move, the team announced that the No. 45 truck will see a rotation of drivers throughout the season, starting with Johnny Sauter, the 2016 NASCAR Truck Series champion, who will kick off the campaign at Daytona.
Sauter, boasting an impressive record of 320 starts and 24 victories in the Truck Series, expressed gratitude for the opportunity with Niece Motorsports, emphasizing his readiness to compete for victory at Daytona alongside crew chief Phil Gould and the rest of the team.
Ross Chastain, who came close to clinching the 2019 Truck Series championship for Niece and has secured four wins with the organization, is set to compete in five races this season.
Chastain’s schedule includes appearances at Circuit of the Americas, Darlington Raceway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, Pocono Raceway, and Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Reflecting on his commitment to the Truck Series and his aspirations to vie for both race wins and an Owner’s Championship, Chastain conveyed his appreciation to Al Niece and the Niece Motorsports team for their support.
Chastain, now a full-time Cup Series driver with a notable track record of success, holds a special place in Niece’s history as the first driver to secure a Truck Series victory for the team.
Niece Motorsports General Manager Cody Efaw expressed gratitude for Chastain’s continued partnership with the organization, highlighting his significant contributions.
Moreover, Efaw expressed enthusiasm for the addition of young talents Kaden Honeycutt and Connor Mosack to the roster. Both drivers will join Sauter and Chastain in sharing driving duties for the No. 45 truck throughout the season.
Honeycutt, aged 20, brings promising potential to the team with 20 Truck Series starts and four top-ten finishes under his belt. Expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to race with Niece Motorsports and his eagerness to contend for an Owner’s Championship, Honeycutt underscored his readiness to compete at the highest level.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Mosack, with 26 starts in the Xfinity Series and a best finish of fifth at Watkins Glen, is eager to embark on his Truck Series journey with Niece Motorsports.
Despite his limited experience in the series, Mosack expressed confidence in his abilities and enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn and grow within the organization.
As the season approaches, Niece Motorsports is poised to field a competitive and diverse lineup of drivers, combining seasoned veterans with emerging talents in pursuit of success on the track.
