Ahead Of Saturday’s Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, Here Are Road Closures, Alternative Routes

Ahead of tomorrow’s Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, motorists are advised to take note of road closures and alternative routes to navigate through the city.

The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory in preparation for the annual Access Bank Lagos City Marathon scheduled for tomorrow, February 10th, 2024. The marathon is set to take place between 5:00 am and 2:00 pm, prompting temporary closures of certain roads to facilitate the event.

According to a statement from the LASG, the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed to motorists starting from midnight tonight until the conclusion of the marathon.

For motorists seeking alternative routes during the marathon, the following options are available:

Scene 1:

Apongbon Bridge towards Eko Bridge via Costain Roundabout, Iponri, and Bode Thomas to reach their intended destinations.

Eko Bridge through Costain Roundabout and Apapa Road can be used to access Oyingbo/Jebba, connecting to Herbert Macaulay Road for onward journeys.

Scene 2:

Motorists can opt for Victoria Island routes, linking Independence Bridge and CMS Bridge, to access Apongbon towards Ijora-Olopa, Iddo, and Oyingbo. From there, they can connect to Herbert Macaulay Road to continue their trips.

During the marathon, the following routes will be temporarily closed to motorists:

  • Funsho Williams Avenue from Stadium, Surulere
  • Ikorodu Road leading to Anthony
  • Gbagada towards Third Mainland Bridge
  • Third Mainland Bridge (both inbound and outbound lanes)
  • Dolphin Road towards Alfred Rewane Road
  • Falomo Roundabout leading to Bourdillon Road
  • Lekki Bridge towards Freedom Way
  • Akin-Adesola leading to Ahmadu Bello Way.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly, considering the temporary closures and available alternative routes to minimize inconvenience during the marathon.
