Chery is bringing a new electric version of their Omoda 5 SUV to Australia, called the Omoda E5. It’s expected to arrive in the middle of the year. The car will have an electric motor that can make 150 kW of power and 340 Nm of torque. This means it should be quite zippy!
We don’t know how big the battery in the car will be, but it’s expected to be efficient enough to travel 430 kilometers on a single charge. That’s a decent distance! The vehicle can also speed from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.6 seconds.
Chery will offer two versions of the Omoda E5: the Standard and the Premium. Both will come with cool features like a big 12.3-inch screen for the infotainment system, a sunroof that goes all the way across the roof, and a fancy digital dashboard. You’ll also have lots of choices for the colors of the inside and outside of the car.
The managing director of Chery Australia, Lucas Harris, is excited about the Omoda E5’s launch. He says it’s a great option for people who want an electric car without sacrificing style or performance.
Visually, the Omoda E5 looks a lot like the regular Omoda 5, except it doesn’t have a big grille in the front. Instead, there’s a flap that opens up to show where you plug in the car to charge it.
We don’t know the exact prices yet, but the electric version will likely cost more than the regular one, which starts at around AU$ 32,990.
