Sanwo-Olu Inspects Red Line Rail Ahead Of Presidential Launch On February 29th

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State conducted an inspection of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line rail infrastructures on Sunday, February 18th, in anticipation of the official launch scheduled for later this month by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, February 29th, 2024.

The purpose of the inspection, as outlined by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), was to assess the readiness of the Red Line rail project for its forthcoming inauguration.

During his visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in activities such as selling goods or residing along the train tracks, emphasizing the need for immediate evacuation of the area. Additionally, he urged the public to refrain from crossing the tracks and advised trespassers to vacate the Red Line corridor promptly.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the imminent commencement of train operations between Agbado and Oyingbo stations, with a frequency of 10-15 minutes. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the clearance of all obstructions along the tracks to facilitate smooth operations.

Accompanying Governor Sanwo-Olu during the inspection were his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Managing Director of LAMATA, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo and other key transportation officials. This collaborative effort underscores the government’s dedication to advancing the transportation infrastructure in Lagos State.
