Updates are on the horizon for Dacia’s popular Sandero and Sandero Stepway hatchbacks, the new Jogger crossover station wagon, and the base Logan sedan, all aimed at providing “customers with a touch of novelty and enhanced comfort.”
Dacia’s journey, not the historical region, but the automaker, commenced in 1966, though it’s not particularly noteworthy unless one has a keen interest in relics from the communist era. What truly matters is the enduring partnership between Dacia and Renault, which saw Renault assume control of the Romanian automaker 33 years later, in 1999.
Their collaboration bore fruit with the introduction of the original Logan, touted as the €5k car by Renault’s leadership. While its price didn’t quite align with the promise, the product itself was commendable, marking Dacia’s progression towards becoming a conventional European automaker.
Fast forward twenty-five years, and Dacia stands as one of the most esteemed brands in Europe, celebrated for its no-frills approach to the automotive industry and popular models like the Sandero hatchback and Duster crossover SUV.
The latest iteration of the Duster, built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform, is gearing up for release, boasting a rugged, boxier design, an upgraded interior with enhanced technology, and gasoline engine options for the European market, including LPG-compatible, mild-hybrid, and full hybrid variants.
However, Dacia is intent on ensuring that the Duster doesn’t overshadow its other offerings and has recently unveiled a series of updates for its other models. The Logan holds the title of best-selling car in Romania and ranks third in Morocco, while the Sandero clinched the second spot for best-selling car in Europe in 2023, trailing only behind Tesla’s Model Y.
Meanwhile, the newly introduced Jogger has already surpassed 100,000 deliveries and stands as the most popular non-SUV C-segment vehicle in Europe. In a bid to comply with the latest Global Safety Regulation standards for Europe (GSR II), Dacia has announced a package of upgrades for the Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Jogger, and Logan.
These enhancements include new wheel designs, the introduction of a new Sandero Journey trim, additional body color options, and a significant technological upgrade for the Jogger, with its Hybrid 140 version now featuring the 7-inch digital instrument cluster from the Duster III.
In addition to adhering to GSR II measures, models available for order since April 2024 will come equipped with new safety features such as an Accident Event Data Recorder, Advanced Emergency Braking System for pedestrians and cyclists, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition with speed alert, Emergency Stop Signal, and more. Creature comforts have also been enhanced with the inclusion of Rear Parking Assist, Light & Rain sensors, and USB-C ports.
