Peugeot has joined the ranks of automakers leveraging OpenAI’s ChatGPT, following the lead of other European counterparts such as Volkswagen and DS Automobiles. With this integration, Peugeot’s I-Cockpit infotainment system is set to become more intelligent and user-friendly thanks to the addition of an AI assistant.
Initiating a conversation with ChatGPT by simply saying “Ok Peugeot” enables drivers to engage in human-like interactions. Whether seeking helpful tips, and directions, or simply looking for some company while on the road, the voice assistant is equipped to comprehend context and tackle both simple and intricate topics.
While Stellantis, Peugeot’s parent company, has not disclosed plans for deeper car integration, it appears that Peugeot’s implementation of the ChatGPT-powered assistant is primarily focused on interaction rather than hands-on control of in-car settings, unlike some competing models.
For Peugeot owners eager to experience this innovation firsthand, the opportunity arises through a pilot program offering free access to ChatGPT for six months. However, with slots limited to 10,000 individuals, interested parties are encouraged to act promptly.
Eligible vehicles for this feature include the latest models such as the 208, 2008, 308, 308SW, 408, 508, 508 SW, E-3008, E-RIFTER, E-TRAVELLER, E-Partner, and E-Expert, with plans to extend availability to the new E-5008 in the near future.
