Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 12,191 cars because they might have a problem with their electrical system. These cars, like the E 450 All-Terrain and the CLS 450, were made between 2021 and 2023. There’s a chance the 48-volt ground cable might be loose, which could cause a fire if there’s too much electrical resistance.
The issue came from a mistake in how the cars were put together. Even though nobody got hurt and no fires happened, Mercedes-Benz took a while to recall the cars because they were checking why their tests didn’t catch the problem.
Now, dealers are going to check the cars and fix the cable if needed. Owners will get letters in the mail about the recall. They can also check online if their car needs fixing.
Some models, like the E-Class and GT 4-Door Coupe, are getting updated. The new E-Class starts at $62,300 and has different engine options. There’s also a new All-Terrain version of the E-Class coming soon, which is like a taller station wagon. The GT 4-Door Coupe has powerful engines and is part of the Mercedes-AMG brand.
