Fiat had an impressive global sales figure of 1.35 million cars in the previous year, marking a modest 12 percent increase from 2022. As part of Stellantis, it retained its position as the conglomerate’s leading brand for the second consecutive year.
Domestically in Italy, Fiat boasted a commanding market share of 12.8 percent, reaffirming its status as the top player. Similarly, in Turkey, Fiat held the largest market share at 15.7 percent in 2023. Notably, a staggering 78.6 percent of all newly registered cars in Algeria bore the Fiat insignia, underscoring its dominance in that market.
However, Fiat’s triumphs were perhaps most pronounced in Brazil. Commanding a remarkable 21.8 percent market share, Fiat emerged as the undisputed leader in one of the world’s largest automotive markets. The Strada, a model not available in other regions, stood out as the most popular choice among Brazilian consumers.
Across South America, Fiat continued its strong performance, selling a total of 542,000 vehicles in 2023, a notable increase from the previous year. Brazil, in particular, saw impressive figures, with 140,200 hatchbacks and 172,000 pickups sold.
Notably, Fiat’s pickup offerings, namely the Strada and the Toro, while not on the scale of larger American models like the Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado, enjoyed significant popularity. The Strada, competing with models like the Volkswagen Saviero, witnessed sales reaching 120,600 units.
In Brazil, Fiat’s product portfolio is diverse, encompassing models such as the Mobi, Argo, Cronos, Pulse, and Fastback, in addition to the aforementioned Strada and Toro. Furthermore, Fiat has made strides in the electric vehicle segment with the introduction of the 500e model in the Brazilian market.
