Despite being established in 1963, Lamborghini’s 33rd issue celebrates 60 years of Automobili Lamborghini. This edition also provides a glimpse of the design of the upcoming Urus PHEV, set to arrive in dealerships for the 2025 model year in the latter part of 2024.

In contrast to the original Urus, the S, and the Performante, the Urus PHEV showcases a distinct rear end with redesigned taillights and a more pronounced spoiler. Lamborghini pledges “a more powerful driving experience” for the Italian SUV, which shares its platform with the 2024 Porsche Cayenne.

The augmentation in power stems from the integration of an electric motor. Additionally, enhancements are expected for the Audi-Porsche V8, which currently boasts 657 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque in the S and Performance trims. Comparable to the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, the Urus PHEV pairs its twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric motor, generating a combined output of 729 hp.

While torque is impressive at 700 lb-ft, it’s important to note that Porsche’s heaviest Cayenne variant weighs 5,666 pounds. Despite Lamborghini’s utilization of carbon fiber, the weight reduction may not be significant.

Spotted multiple times with both pre-facelift and revised headlights, the Urus PHEV faces competition primarily from the 715-horsepower Ferrari Purosangue. Notably, the Urus PHEV does not vie against the BMW XM Label in the plug-in hybrid segment, given the preference for Lamborghini’s allure.

The introduction of the second-generation Urus is slated for 2029, featuring a fully electric powertrain. Preceding this, the unveiling of the Lanzador is anticipated, sharing Volkswagen’s Scalable Systems Platform. The Lanzador concept, showcased in August 2023, flaunts a 1,341-horsepower configuration, hinting at a four-seat “ultra GT.”

In addition to the Urus PHEV, Lamborghini is set to launch the successor to the Huracan in 2024, featuring a plug-in hybrid setup with a twin-turbo V8 engine. For enthusiasts favoring naturally aspirated models, the Revuelto, codenamed LB63x, is projected to surpass 800 horsepower.
