Volkswagen introduces two variants of the new-gen Tiguan PHEV, combining a 1.5L TSI gasoline engine with an electric motor and battery pack. The entry-level variant delivers 204 ps (201 hp/150 kW), while the advanced version boasts 272 ps (268 hp/200 kW) combined power output.

Highlighted by its impressive electric driving range of up to 120 kilometers (75 miles) and over 900 km (560 miles) combined range in its most efficient configuration, the Tiguan PHEV features enhanced charging capabilities, supporting up to 100 kW recharge rates and DC fast charging up to 50 kW.

Available in four trim levels, the base variant offers standard features such as a 12.9-inch infotainment system, digital gauge cluster, single-zone automatic air conditioning, and USB-C ports.

Safety and convenience features include lane assist, reversing camera, emergency braking, side assist, dynamic road sign display, LED headlights, 17-inch alloys, and Car2X connectivity.

Pricing for the base variant starts at €36,600 ($39,565) in Germany, while the superior variant, starting from the Life trim upwards, commences at €48,655 ($52,595) and includes a 272 ps (268 hp/200 kW) powertrain. All models come equipped with an automatic transmission.

Noteworthy additions to the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan range include ChatGPT integration and a new Park Assist feature allowing for autonomous parking over distances of up to 50 meters. Advanced headlamps and pneumatic massage functions for the front seats further enhance the driving experience.

While initially available in Europe, Volkswagen plans to launch the Tiguan in the US market with a seven-seater configuration featuring design enhancements and additional seating capacity. The European model will be marketed as the Tayron, with plans for a US release in the 2025 model year.
