While many associate Cadillac’s venture into the pickup truck market with the Chevy Avalanche-based Escalade EXT, the brand’s foray began much earlier with the 1975 Cadillac Eldorado pickup conversion, crafted by professionals a quarter century before the Escalade’s debut.
Custom automotive fabricators, including Traditional Coach Works Chatsworth and Formal Coach Corporation, experimented with Cadillac truck conversions in the 1970s, yielding unique vehicles like the Cadillac Mirage.
Featuring the timeless Eldorado front fascia juxtaposed with a pickup bed reminiscent of a Ford Ranchero or Chevy El Camino, these conversions, distinguished by a large port window, offered a blend of luxury and utility.
Equipped with Cadillac’s potent V8 engines, these pickups exuded power and torque, albeit with a constant battle against rust, a common affliction among classic cars. Despite its challenges, this Caddy remains functional and could serve as a daily driver with proper care.
